Congratulations are in order to US gymnast Gabby Douglas as she earned a place in history today when she won the gold medal for the woman’s individual all-around competition at the 2012 Olympics!
Douglas pushed her way into the lead after the very first event, and finished with a score of 62.232. Team USA finished in Fourth Place.
At only 16 years old, Gabby a.k.a The Flying Squirrel, is the first African-American woman to win a gold medal in the women’s all-around competition, making this her second gold medal in this year’s Olympic games (Team USA won first place in the Team Finals earlier this week).
Way to go Gabby! Thank you for making us proud!
