If you don’t know Eric Bellinger, then you better get familiar. He’s the mastermind behind Jennifer Hudson’s “Think Like A Man” and Usher’s potential upcoming single, “Let Me See”. Aside from working with some of the successful artists in the industry, Bellinger is now working on his own project- a mixtape entitled, “Born II Sing”. The songwriter turned singer recently sat down with BET.com where he revealed secrets about Usher’s upcoming album, and even dished on his own project.
When asked about his experience working with Usher on the song, “Let Me See”, Eric Bellinger responded, “I’m definitely excited about it. Rick Ross is featured on there; Jim Jonsin produced it. It’s really going to live in the clubs for a long time.”
Usher’s new album, which is scheduled to drop June 12, is going to “change everybody’s perspective on music,” Bellinger tells BET.com. “Honestly, he’s birthing a whole new sound. The Usher that everyone loves is coming back, but it’s like he’s hungrier than ever. From concepts to his vocals to the performance, each song is a movie in itself. You definitely have a lot to look forward to.”
As a huge fan of Usher, it’s easy for Eric Bellinger to want to follow in the superstar’s footsteps. He’s hoping that his success as a songwriter will translate into his singing career and wants to be “the voice for the masses”. He goes on to say, “I want to sing from a place that everybody can relate to. I want to do videos that everybody can relate with. I just want to be the voice of the people and sing about concepts and topics that everybody can relate to. I’ve studied people like Boyz II Men and Jodeci, and those are the type of vocals that I’m trying to bring back.”
With Boyz II Men and Jodeci as role models and a resume that includes making hits for Usher and Jennifer Hudson, I’m sure Eric Bellinger is well on his way to becoming legendary in the music game.
