The tension between Ja Rule and 50 Cent has been one of hip-hop’s most infamous rivalries, and while things have simmered down over the years, the bad blood clearly remains. During a recent appearance on The Breakfast Club, Ja Rule reflected on the decades-long feud, revealing that he generally avoids engaging—but admits some moments are hard to ignore.

“I don’t bring him up per se at all,” Ja Rule said, referring to 50 Cent. “I think that’s because he’s a troll and he keeps it going. I’ll go to the circus once in a while, you know, but I really like to stay clear of that sh*t.”

One incident that nearly pushed him over the edge was when 50 trolled the death of Ja’s longtime friend and Murder Inc. co-founder, Irv Gotti. Following Gotti’s passing, 50 posted a photo of himself next to a fake tombstone with the caption: “I’m smoking on dat Gotti pack… Nah God bless him LOL.” The post sparked outrage online, and though Ja Rule stayed silent at the time, he now says it almost broke his resolve.

“I was hot, I was ready to go nuclear and sh*t,” he said. “Prem [DJ Premier] said it best… ‘Rule, you got to understand who we are and what we are. We are masters of self-defense.’”

Ja emphasized he’s not seeking drama, but won’t back down if provoked. “I don’t want to start trouble… but if we gotta get into it—I’ll f*cking end it.”

It didn’t take long for 50 Cent to fire back. In a new Instagram post, the rapper mocked Ja Rule’s interview, writing, “The Breakfast Club should be ashamed of themselves asking questions that perpetuate violence… This fool has been getting ready to go what he calls nuclear for 22 years. LOL.”

He ended the post with his signature plug for Branson Cognac and Le Chemin du Roi, reminding fans that even in beef, branding is never far behind.
