Floyd Mayweather Asks For Temporary Reprieve Until After McGregor Fight Because He Can’t Pay Off 2015 Unpaid Taxes

Word on the street is Floyd Mayweather doesn’t have enough money to pay off his unpaid taxes from 2015 and he’s asking the IRS for a temporary reprieve. Apparently, he wants to hold off from paying until after his highly anticipated fight with Conor McGregor this August.

“Although the taxpayer has substantial assets, those assets are restricted and primarily illiquid,” the petition said, according to the legal website Law360. “The taxpayer has a significant liquidity event scheduled in about 60 days from which he intends to pay the balance of the 2015 tax liability due and outstanding.”

He is also petitioning to reduce the penalty amount he received for not paying his taxes, which normally equates to 0.5% of the money owed for each month. ESPN reports that Mayweather is 15 months behind on his tab so he’s probably looking at about a 7.5% charge tagged on.

In 2015, Floyd may $220 million off of his Manny Pacquiao fight alone. He posted a pic of a $100 million check which sources confirmed to be legit. Fortunately for him, no taxes were deducted either.

As for right now, Mayweather’s total bill still remains unknown but the IRS had previously demanded that he pay the amount immediately because they are under the impression that the undefeated boxer is able to pay up even if it means selling a house or two.
