NBA YoungBoy Sentenced to 27 Months for Federal Gun Case

NBA YoungBoy has been sentenced to 27 months in prison following a lengthy federal gun case. The charges stemmed from a 2020 incident in Louisiana, where the rapper was indicted for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and for possession of an unregistered firearm. The case, which has been ongoing, was eventually transferred to Utah, where NBA YoungBoy resides.
In August 2023, NBA YoungBoy accepted a plea deal, admitting guilt to the charges. Initially, it was believed that he could face up to 10 years in prison. However, his attorney, Bradford Cohen, shared that the rapper received a significantly lighter sentence of 27 months, along with five years of probation. With credit for time served, it’s possible that YoungBoy could be released within 12 months.
Cohen attributed the relatively lenient sentence to the weaknesses in the Utah case and the federal case’s complications. While any prison sentence is undesirable, this outcome is seen as a favorable result for the rapper.
Fans are sharing mixed reactions to the sentence, but many are relieved that NBA YoungBoy could be back sooner than expected.
