Tyrese Claims Judge in Child Support Battle “Hates My Guts” Following Arrest

On Monday, September 9, actor and singer Tyrese Gibson found himself at the center of legal turmoil after being arrested for “willful contempt” due to his failure to make child support payments. The payments in question, totaling $10,690, are intended for his five-year-old daughter, Soraya, whom he shares with his ex-wife, Samantha Lee. Tyrese has been vocal about his frustration with the ongoing child support battle, asserting that the situation has been unfairly stacked against him. He believes the judge overseeing his case, Kevin M. Farmer, has played a significant role in the alleged bias.
Ahead of his court appearance in Atlanta on Monday, Tyrese took to Instagram to share his grievances about the judge, and the tension only escalated after his arrest. On X (formerly Twitter), Tyrese expressed his trauma from the experience. “Getting arrested wasn’t fun; in fact, it was very traumatic… One would ask why does this judge Kevin M. Farmer HATE me so much?” he tweeted. Along with his post, he provided a link to a 20-page appeal brief that he encouraged his followers to read for further details about the case.
While Tyrese has been outspoken in accusing Judge Farmer of personal bias, the legal process has continued to unfold. As part of his release from custody, the actor was ordered to pay a hefty $73,500 to Fulton County officials. His attorney, Tanya Mitchell Graham, has since filed an appeal against Farmer’s ruling, attempting to reverse what Tyrese believes to be an unjust decision. As of now, Tyrese has been released from custody, but the legal drama surrounding his child support obligations is far from over.
This isn’t the first time Tyrese has been at odds with the court system regarding his family life. He has consistently voiced his desire to be an active father in his children’s lives, yet he feels that his efforts have been overshadowed by legal battles and what he perceives as mistreatment by the justice system.
The public response to Tyrese’s situation has been mixed, with some sympathizing with his frustration while others believe the legal system is simply holding him accountable for his financial responsibilities. What are your thoughts on Tyrese’s claims that Judge Kevin M. Farmer holds a personal vendetta against him? Do you think the legal proceedings have been handled fairly? Let us know what you think in the comments.
