Serayah, Tyler Lepley and Phylicia Rashad to star in Tyler Perry and DeVon Franklin’s Bible-Inspired Love Story ‘R&B’
Netflix has found its leading stars for the upcoming film “R&B,” which will feature Serayah, Tyler Lepley, and Phylicia Rashad. This film marks the first collaboration between Netflix and DeVon Franklin, who is producing faith-based films alongside Tyler Perry Studios.
Directed by Alanna Brown, “R&B” is a contemporary adaptation of the biblical love story of Ruth and Boaz. Set in Tennessee, it follows a young woman who leaves the Atlanta music scene to care for an elderly widow, ultimately discovering love and the maternal bond she has longed for.
The screenplay is written by Michael Elliot and Cory Tynan, with Franklin and Perry producing, while Angi Bones, Tony L. Strickland, and Bart Lipton serve as executive producers. The cast also includes Walnette Santiago, Nijah Brenea, James Lee Thomas, Kenneth ‘Babyface’ Edmonds, Jermaine Dupri, and Lecrae Moore.
In May, Franklin and Perry established a multi-year, multi-film first-look deal with Netflix, expanding Perry’s ongoing collaboration with the platform, which now includes both scripted and unscripted projects. Upcoming films from Perry on Netflix include “Six Triple Eight” and “Beauty in Black.”
