Lil Durk Co-Defendant Seeks Protective Order Over Safety Concerns

Kavon London Grant, one of Lil Durk’s co-defendants in his ongoing federal murder-for-hire case, has requested a protective order due to concerns over the safety of witnesses, victims, and defendants. He argues that allowing the public unrestricted access to sensitive case information could lead to serious risks. Grant’s attorney, Peter C. Swarth, highlighted these concerns in a filing, noting the potential dangers of disclosing personal details about victims, witnesses, and defendants. This sensitive information includes crime scene photos, autopsy reports, and statements from protected witnesses. Swarth warned of potential retaliation or intimidation and is seeking strict limitations on access to these documents.

Lil Durk, along with his co-defendants from the Only The Family (OTF) collective, was arrested in October for allegedly orchestrating an attempted murder of rival rapper Quando Rondo in 2022. Authorities describe OTF as both a music group and a criminal organization. According to the complaint, Durk placed a bounty on a man named T.B., ordering his murder and using OTF-related funds to finance the hit. Prosecutors also claim the attempt was in retaliation for the 2020 killing of King Von.

Durk remains in federal custody and faces life in prison if convicted. He was arrested in South Florida while allegedly trying to flee the country, with authorities stating he had several flights booked. His trial is scheduled for January 2025.
