Flavor Flav Organizes Fundraiser to Support Black Families Displaced by L.A. Wildfires

Flavor Flav is taking action to help Black families affected by the recent Los Angeles wildfires. Partnering with GoFundMe and the Black Music Action Coalition, the Public Enemy legend announced a streamlined relief campaign to aid families in Pasadena and Altadena displaced by the Eaton fire. The single GoFundMe campaign centralizes donations, ensuring they reach impacted families and community-based nonprofits.
“There’s not enough being done for the Black families and the communities,” Flavor Flav shared in an Instagram video. “So I partnered up with GoFundMe and the Black Music Action Coalition to immediately help all of those that’s in need.”
In addition to Flavor Flav’s efforts, André 3000 contributed a previously unreleased track to a benefit compilation album titled Staying: Leaving Records Aid to Artists Impacted by the Los Angeles Wildfires. The 98-track album, released on Bandcamp through Leaving Records, includes works from Reggie Watts, Brijean, and others, with proceeds going directly to artists and families impacted by the fires.
Leaving Records’ Emmett Shoemaker explained that 50% of the album’s proceeds will support Los Angeles-based artists and music colleagues, while the other half will assist displaced Black families and communities. “We’re seeking to supplement the numerous GoFundMes and acts of mutual aid buoying recovery efforts,” Shoemaker stated.
Both initiatives highlight the creative and collective response from the music community in addressing the needs of those impacted by these devastating wildfires.
