Diddy Scores Legal Victory as $400 Million Sexual Assault Lawsuit From Male Accuser Is Dismissed

Sean “Diddy” Combs has secured a legal win after a federal judge dismissed a $400 million lawsuit filed against him by Michigan prisoner Derrick Lee Cardello-Smith. The lawsuit, which stemmed from an alleged incident in 1997, was thrown out due to Michigan’s statute of limitations.

Court documents obtained by In Touch reveal the case was dismissed with prejudice, preventing Derrick from refiling or pursuing the same allegations. However, the court stopped short of granting Diddy’s request for sanctions to bar Derrick from filing future lawsuits, instead issuing a warning against “duplicative, frivolous, or harassing filings.”

The allegations, which Diddy’s legal team has vehemently denied, claimed that the mogul spiked Derrick’s drink during a 1997 Holiday Inn party, leading him to fall asleep. Derrick alleged that he woke up to find Diddy engaging in relations with a woman and then claimed Diddy said to him, “I did this to you too.”

This dismissal marks a significant legal victory for Diddy, as the court’s decision ensures the case cannot proceed further. While the judge’s ruling underscores the importance of legal timelines, it also reinforces the limits on baseless or time-barred claims.
