Joie Chavis Claps Back at Critics Questioning Her Living Situation Amid Wildfire Evacuations

Joie Chavis is addressing criticism about her living situation after revealing she temporarily stayed with her mother during the California wildfire evacuations. Social media users questioned why the fathers of her children—Bow Wow, Future, and Trevon Diggs—didn’t “help her” during the displacement.
In a resurfaced clip, Chavis shared that while her home survived the fires, area damage left her and her children temporarily unable to return. She explained they were living at her mother’s house instead of a hotel, despite having renter’s insurance that covered accommodations. “I don’t want to be in one room with three kids and no kitchen or washer and dryer,” she explained. She also mentioned her plans to leave Los Angeles to cut costs and save for a house.
Social media quickly reacted, with many pointing out that Chavis previously disclosed in 2019 that Bow Wow and Future don’t pay child support. Comments poured in speculating about her financial support from Trevon Diggs and her overall living arrangements.
Chavis didn’t hold back, taking to Instagram to shut down detractors. “This was two weeks ago,” she clarified in the comments of The Shade Room. “I’m good and always will be! Y’all always find something negative to say. Of course I was staying with mom during evacuations by choice… Let’s continue to pray for the people who have no home to go to. Now leave me tf alone.”
She also responded to a user suggesting she stop sharing her personal life if she didn’t want backlash: “Girl stfu, I do what I want. No one was complaining, that was the reality. Stop commenting about a stranger’s life, weirdo!”
Chavis’ response highlights her frustration with the constant scrutiny of her life and her choices, particularly when it involves her family. While she remains firm and unapologetic, she also emphasized the importance of focusing on those truly affected by the wildfires who have no homes to return to.
