Trey Songz Avoids $11 Million Default Judgment in Battery Lawsuit

Trey Songz has scored a significant legal win after a Clark County District Court judge in Las Vegas dismissed an $11 million default judgment against him. The decision stems from a 2023 battery lawsuit filed by Tyrelle Dunn, who alleged that Trey and his security team attacked him in November 2021 at The Cosmopolitan hotel.

The lawsuit claimed Dunn was assaulted after his wife was allegedly attacked in Trey’s hotel room, leading to injuries that caused him to miss a month of work. Despite not responding to the case, a default judgment was entered against Trey in October 2024.

However, Trey’s legal team argued that he was never properly served with the lawsuit and only learned of the judgment when fans messaged him on Instagram in late November, congratulating him on the ruling. His attorneys filed a motion to overturn the judgment, claiming improper service and requesting a chance to defend himself in court.

On January 17, Judge Jacob Reynolds sided with Trey, ruling that he was not properly served and granting him 30 days to respond to the original lawsuit. Dunn’s attorney expressed disappointment in the decision but vowed to continue pursuing the case and hold all parties accountable.

While Trey Songz is no longer liable for the $11 million judgment for now, the legal battle over the battery allegations is far from over.
