Philadelphia Eagles Dominate Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in Super Bowl LIX, Jalen Hurts Named MVP

In a commanding performance, the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in Super Bowl LIX, ending Kansas City’s bid to become the first team to three-peat in the Super Bowl era. The victory was powered by Eagles star quarterback Jalen Hurts, who silenced any lingering critics with a near-perfect game and was named Super Bowl MVP.
Hurts threw for 221 yards and two touchdowns, completing 17 of 22 passes. His performance didn’t stop there—he set a new Super Bowl record for a quarterback, rushing for 72 yards. Running back Saquon Barkley contributed 97 total yards, including 57 on the ground with 32 rushes, helping seal the victory.
After the game, Hurts praised his teammates for their collective effort in securing the win. “God is good… I couldn’t be here without my teammates, the effort and determination everybody displayed to get to this point,” Hurts said. “Hell of a game today.”
Hurts’ performance also made history, as he became the first player in NFL history to record at least five passing touchdowns and five rushing touchdowns in a single postseason.
On the other side, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw for 257 yards and three touchdowns, but struggled under constant pressure, with two interceptions, a lost fumble, and being sacked six times. Despite his efforts, the Chiefs couldn’t overcome the Eagles’ strong defense and balanced offense.
Social media erupted in celebration after the game, with former President Barack Obama congratulating the Eagles on their victory. “Second time’s the charm. Congrats to the @Eagles, Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, Nick Sirianni, and an outstanding defense for winning one for Philly,” Obama wrote. “You earned it!”
With the win, the Eagles secure their place in Super Bowl history, while the Chiefs fall short of an unprecedented three-peat.
