2 Chainz has addressed being namedropped by Kendrick Lamar on the Grammy-winning rapper’s track “Not Like Us,” which also references Drake and sparked a bit of tension in the hip-hop community. During a stop at The Breakfast Club on Wednesday, February 12, 2 Chainz appeared alongside Larry June and The Alchemist to promote their new joint album Life Is Beautiful.

Charlamagne Tha God asked 2 Chainz about Kendrick’s line, where he called out Drake’s reputation in Atlanta, leading many to believe it was a shot at the Canadian rapper. “I just think it was kind of like some word play because Drake and I got a song called ‘No Lie,’” 2 Chainz explained, referring to the hit track he and Drake collaborated on. He went on to clarify that he didn’t take the mention personally and believed it was more about the playful dynamics among artists rather than a direct jab at him.

“I didn’t take it as no kind of way. I don’t think he was taking a shot at me,” said 2 Chainz. “I’ve heard all types of instances where somebody want me to say something back. I just think it was a moment where it was about a line of artists.”

2 Chainz also pointed out his successful collaborations with Drake, noting that songs like “No Lie” and “All Me” helped him earn several plaques. Ultimately, he emphasized that the mention didn’t faze him, and he was “ok with it.”

His laid-back response highlights the camaraderie between the artists and his focus on continuing to make music, rather than engaging in beefs.
