LeBron James Becomes First Male Athlete To Have Official Ken Doll

Published

LeBron James has once again made history—this time, off the court. The NBA superstar is now the first male athlete to receive his own official Ken doll, marking a major milestone in both sports and pop culture. The exclusive collector’s edition figurine, priced at $75, will first drop via Mattel Creations before becoming available on Amazon and other major retailers a day later.

While LeBron has yet to comment on the doll, he joins an elite group of public figures immortalized in Barbie form, including Alicia Keys, Issa Rae, and Naomi Osaka.

This release also marks a significant moment in history, aligning with the 45th anniversary of the first Black Barbie. The doll, designed by fashion visionary Kitty Black Perkins, broke new ground when it was launched. Reflecting on its creation, Perkins shared her excitement with People last year, recalling how the idea for a Black Barbie came to life. “There was always talk about doing a Black doll,” Perkins said. “It took on a life of its own… and we were all thrilled when it finally happened.”

Now, with LeBron entering the Barbie universe, the legacy of representation—and greatness—continues to grow.
