Beloved actress Maia Campbell has broken her silence in a heartfelt message to fans, expressing gratitude for their continued support and sharing her hopes for the future of her career.

In a candid video posted to social media, Campbell addressed the public’s ongoing concern for her well-being and gave a much-anticipated update. “Hey, everybody. Thanks for checking in and wondering if I’m okay. I’m doing great,” she assured supporters, radiating positivity and strength.

Campbell, who rose to fame in the 1990s sitcom In the House, also opened up about her current aspirations. She revealed a deeply personal and meaningful goal: getting acclaimed filmmaker Tyler Perry involved in adapting her late mother Bebe Moore Campbell’s novel 72 Hour Hold into a film or series.

“Everybody keeps asking me what do I wanna do with my career. And, honestly, I could say that I really wanna get in touch with Tyler Perry and have him produce my mother’s book, 72 Hour Hold,” she said. “It was a monumental book for me. It was a New York Times bestseller, and July is Mental Health Awareness Month. So I’m still on that campaign.”

72 Hour Hold, published in 2005, was inspired by the struggles of families dealing with mental illness and is widely regarded as an important work in the conversation around mental health in the Black community. Bebe Moore Campbell, a tireless mental health advocate, passed away in 2006, but her legacy continues to live on through her writing and her daughter’s advocacy.
