BMF Founder Demetrius ‘Big Meech’ Flenory Released From Prison, Transferred to Community Confinement

Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory, a key figure in the notorious Black Mafia Family, is moving closer to freedom as he has been transferred from federal prison to community confinement.
Flenory was moved from the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Coleman Low to a facility managed by the Federal Bureau of Prisons’ Miami Residential Reentry Management Office. This allows him to serve the remainder of his sentence either under home confinement or in a halfway house. His transfer took place on October 15, 2024.
According to information from the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Flenory is scheduled for release on January 27, 2026. His attorney, Brittany K. Barnett, expressed her happiness regarding his transfer, highlighting that he has used his prison time for personal development and is ready to start anew.

“Two decades is an incredibly long time, and it’s been inspiring to see the power of hope and resilience,” Barnett stated. She emphasized that while Flenory has made progress, many others remain incarcerated, underscoring the need for reform in the justice system to recognize each individual’s dignity and potential for redemption. Barnett reaffirmed their commitment to addressing ongoing injustices within the criminal legal system.
Flenory was arrested in 2005 and sentenced to 30 years in 2008 for drug trafficking and money laundering related to his BMF organization. Earlier this year, Barnett successfully reduced his sentence by 32 months.
