Rapper Busta Rhymes is facing multiple assault charges following an alleged physical altercation with his assistant, Dashiel Gables, on January 10 in Brooklyn, New York. According to law enforcement sources, the incident occurred in the lobby of Gables’ condo building in DUMBO, a trendy neighborhood in downtown Brooklyn.

The confrontation reportedly began when Busta Rhymes became upset with Gables for using his phone during work hours. Sources say the disagreement quickly escalated into violence, with the rapper allegedly striking Gables multiple times in the face.

Following the alleged assault, Busta Rhymes is said to have left the scene, while Gables immediately called 911. Emergency responders arrived quickly, and Gables was transported to a nearby hospital to receive treatment for a reported eye injury.

On Tuesday, Busta Rhymes turned himself in to the NYPD. He was issued a desk appearance ticket (DAT) for misdemeanor assault, attempted assault, and harassment. A DAT means that Busta has been given a scheduled court date to answer to the charges, but he was not taken into custody.

As of now, Busta Rhymes’ representatives have not responded to requests for comment regarding the incident. The rapper, known for his fiery delivery and long-standing career in hip-hop, will have the opportunity to address the charges in court at a later date.
