Charges Dropped for 5th Suspect in Young Dolph’s Murder Case Just One Day After Arrest

Shundale Barnett, 30, has been cleared of all charges related to the 2021 murder of Memphis rapper Young Dolph.

Barnett was arrested on Monday and initially faced charges of first-degree murder, accessory after the fact, and other related offenses. However, by Tuesday afternoon, the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office dismissed the case, citing a lack of evidence connecting him to the crime.

According to DA spokesperson Erica Williams, Barnett was initially charged due to his presence with convicted suspect Justin Johnson at the time of Johnson’s arrest in Indiana. After further investigation, authorities determined that Barnett had no direct involvement in Dolph’s killing.

Although a clerical error delayed the official dismissal, Barnett is now free of all charges.

Barnett is the fifth individual to be linked to the case, while Johnson has already been convicted of first-degree murder. Other suspects are still facing legal proceedings.
