As reported by ESPN, Sanders has signed a five-year, $54 million contract extension that runs through the 2029 season, making him one of the highest-paid football coaches in the nation. The deal includes a significant pay increase, with Sanders set to earn $10 million in 2025, becoming the highest-paid coach in the Big 12. His salary will continue to rise, with $10 million in 2026, $11 million in 2027, $11 million in 2028, and $12 million in 2029.

The contract also includes a buyout clause in the event Sanders leaves for another coaching job.
