JUST IN! After 10 hours of deliberating, the jury in the Derick Chauvin trial has been found guilty on all charges for the murder of George Floyd. Chauvin faces up to 40 years in prison for second-degree murder, up to 25 years for third-degree murder and up to 10 years for second-degree manslaughter. Sentencing is set for 8 weeks post trial. Floyd died in May 2020 in Minneapolis after Chauvin placed his knee on Floyd’s neck while he pleaded, “I can’t breathe.”
George Floyd’s attorney Ben Crump tweeted “This verdict is a turning point in history and sends a clear message on the need for accountability of law enforcement. Because justice for black America is justice for ALL of America!”
