DJ Akademiks Speaking Out After Being Banned From Twitch

DJ Akademiks is speaking out after being banned from Twitch amid grooming allegations stemming from a resurfaced clip of him having a sexually explicit conversation with a teenager.

During a Tuesday night stream, Ak addressed the situation, stating that he understood Twitch’s decision to remove him from the platform, even though the incident occurred outside of his own live streams.

“Even though I wasn’t streaming, that happened on their platform—completely get it,” he said.

Despite losing access to Twitch, Akademiks downplayed the impact on his career, explaining that the majority of his audience comes from YouTube anyway.

“Of course, we still stream on YouTube, which, honestly, about 80% of our viewership came from YouTube, anyway.”

Akademiks also emphasized that he has no hard feelings toward Twitch and that he respects their decision.

“Twitch, I respect their platform. You gotta respect their rules.”

He admitted that he wanted his return to streaming to be more “low key” in order to avoid further controversy.

“I kinda wanted to have a lower-key stream. I feel like the sharks are just circling.”

Ak previously described the situation as a “regrettable moment” and claimed he would learn from it moving forward.

“We’re going to use it as a teachable moment. Because I don’t think I’ve come this far, built this platform, to be that irresponsible, right?”
