Draya Michele, known for her role on “Basketball Wives LA,” recently faced criticism for promoting an air purifier amid the ongoing Los Angeles wildfires. On January 11, 2025, she shared an Instagram video demonstrating the Sereniby air purifier, highlighting the poor air quality due to the fires and offering a discount code for the product.

Critics labeled the promotion as “tone deaf,” suggesting it was inappropriate given the circumstances. Some felt that offering free purifiers would have been more suitable. In response, Sereniby clarified that Michele was not compensated for her post and had reached out to them out of genuine use and belief in the product’s utility. The startup also announced a donation of 10% of January profits to the American Red Cross to support fire relief efforts.

The Los Angeles wildfires have caused significant displacement and fatalities, with health officials warning of the adverse effects of smoke and ash on public health. The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health issued a smoke advisory, cautioning residents about the unhealthy air quality and the potential health risks associated with wildfire smoke.

This incident adds to a series of controversies involving Michele, including recent backlash over her relationship with NBA player Jalen Green, who is 17 years her junior. Despite the criticism, Michele has remained unapologetic about her personal life and choices.
