In her newly released memoir, Who’s That Girl?, rapper and actress Eve is shedding light on a life-saving moment involving pop icon Janet Jackson. Eve recalls a terrifying experience at a 2007 MTV VMAs afterparty where her drink was spiked, leaving her drugged and hysterical. As she lost control of her emotions, Janet Jackson stepped in to help her in a way Eve says saved her life.

In her memoir, Eve writes, “Missy [Elliot] came in to check on me, but I was just unable to collect myself. Then, who walks in? Janet Jackson. I had never met her before, and so her first introduction to me was seeing me hysterical. None of that mattered to Janet.” She continued, “Janet sprang into action, telling people to get aspirin, water, hot sauce, and a piece of white bread. That concoction knocked me right out of my hysteria. So, basically, Janet Jackson saved my life.”

Eve also previously mentioned this incident during a 2018 episode of The Talk, but her memoir dives deeper into that moment, as well as many others from her career.

Eve’s memoir covers various aspects of her life, including her struggles as a young rapper, stripping at 17, signing with Dr. Dre and Ruff Ryders, a warning from Jay-Z, and even the tragedy of suffering an ectopic pregnancy while filming her sitcom in 2006.

This revelation about Jackson comes at a time when the singer is embroiled in controversy regarding comments she made about Vice President Kamala Harris. Despite the backlash, Eve’s story shines a positive light on Jackson’s past, showing her compassionate side during a vulnerable moment.
