Jalen Brunson has signed a four-year, $156.5 million contract extension with the New York Knicks, leaving potentially over $113 million on the table to continue being the marquee player at Madison Square Garden. The extension, announced by the team, includes a player option for the fourth year. Had Brunson waited until next summer, he could have secured a five-year, $270 million deal. “Jalen signing the extension to remain with the Knicks for the long-term shows the dedication and passion he has for the organization, the fans, and this city,” said Knicks president Leon Rose. Brunson’s willingness to take a team-friendly deal was inspired by financial sacrifices made by athletes like Derek Jeter and Tom Brady. This extension allows the Knicks to maintain a strong core of players, including Julius Randle, Josh Hart, and Mikal Bridges, as they aim for an NBA title.
