Jazmine Sullivan Reveals Miscarriage One Day After Her 38th Birthday

A day after celebrating her 38th birthday, Grammy-winning singer Jazmine Sullivan opened up about a deeply personal heartbreak—revealing she recently suffered a miscarriage.

In an emotional Instagram Story posted on Thursday, April 10, Sullivan shared that she lost her unborn child, writing, “I woulda have been holding my 2-month-old son that I never got to meet. So needless to say I’ve been down bad.”

The post comes amid ongoing grief over the loss of her mother, Pamela Sullivan, who passed away from breast cancer in July 2023 at age 64. “Leading up to my birthday has been incredibly hard as I’ve been thinking abt my mother and missing her more than words can say,” she wrote.

Despite the pain, Sullivan expressed gratitude for a moment of healing: a massage that helped release “some of the deep pain I’ve been holding in for a while.”

The singer also thanked fans for their birthday wishes and continued support. “Please continue to pray for me as I heal from life’s ass whooping,” she wrote.

Sullivan has previously spoken about the difficulty of coping with her mother’s passing. Last year, on her 37th birthday, she shared, “I cried all month. I’ll cry for the rest of my life. But I’ll also smile, laugh and dance in between the tears! So thank God for that!”
