Jodeci’s DeVante Swing Dismissed From Rape Lawsuit Accusing Him of Aiding Diddy In 1990

Jodeci member DeVante Swing has been dismissed from a lawsuit accusing him of aiding Diddy in the alleged 1990 rape of Liza Gardner. The voluntary dismissal, filed by Gardner on January 15, was made without prejudice, leaving the door open for potential re-filing in the future.

Gardner’s initial claims alleged that Swing, then in his early 20s, was present during the assault and failed to intervene. Legal documents also accused Swing of trafficking Gardner across state lines, supplying her with alcohol and marijuana, and coercing her into situations where she was exploited by Diddy and others.

The case surfaced after Diddy’s ex-girlfriend Cassie filed a separate suit accusing him of sex trafficking and assault. Gardner’s claims tied Swing to the incident through allegations of complicity and indirect involvement. However, Swing’s dismissal narrows the scope of Gardner’s ongoing legal battle.

Diddy, who has denied all allegations, described the accusations as “fabricated claims” meant to extract financial compensation. Meanwhile, another lawsuit involving Joie Dickerson-Neal mentions Swing’s name, alleging he had knowledge of a videotaped sexual assault involving Diddy in 1991.

As legal battles mount against Diddy, Swing’s dismissal marks a partial resolution in one of several lawsuits tied to the Bad Boy founder.
