Streamer Kai Cenat is back in the spotlight as a resurfaced video links him to Drake’s ongoing legal battle with Universal Music Group (UMG). In a clip from May 3, 2024, Kai Cenat was live-streaming his reaction to Drake’s diss track “Family Matters” aimed at Kendrick Lamar when Drake allegedly sent him a direct message saying, “stay on stream,” seemingly encouraging him to continue his broadcast.

The situation gained more traction when, on May 4, Kai Cenat also live-streamed his reaction to Kendrick Lamar’s explosive response track, “Not Like Us.” The song quickly went viral and soared to the top of the Billboard Hot 100.

Drake has since filed a defamation lawsuit against UMG, accusing the label of manipulating the success of Lamar’s “Not Like Us.” According to the lawsuit, Drake claims UMG used tactics like “whitelisting” and encouraged influencers such as Kai Cenat to amplify the track’s reach and its damaging content. UMG has denied these allegations, calling Drake’s claims “untrue” and “illogical.”

The resurfaced video of Drake’s DM to Kai has intensified speculation about the role influencers may have played in the feud and how social media reactions might have impacted the success of diss tracks in the hip-hop industry. As the legal battle unfolds, fans and industry insiders are closely watching for further developments.
