Kevin Liles, CEO and co-founder of 300 Entertainment, has filed a formal motion to dismiss a sexual assault lawsuit brought against him by an anonymous woman in New York. The lawsuit, which stems from allegations dating back to the early 2000s, accuses Liles of rape and sexual misconduct during his tenure as president of Def Jam Recordings.

The motion, submitted on Tuesday, April 8, argues that the claims are time-barred and insufficiently detailed. However, the suit was filed under the New York City Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Law, recently amended to allow previously expired claims to be brought forward through March 1, 2025.

The plaintiff, identified as Jane Doe, alleges that Liles sexually assaulted her between 2000 and 2002 and made repeated derogatory comments about her body and appearance during their time at Def Jam. Liles held the position of president at the iconic label from 1999 to 2004.

In a public statement, Liles vehemently denied the accusations. “These outrageous allegations are completely untrue,” he said. “After nearly 40 years of service to our culture, I’ve intentionally built a reputation for doing things the right way, treating people the right way, and empowering women.”

Liles also announced plans to pursue legal action against both the accuser and her attorney, stating they “will face a defamation lawsuit and every other available legal consequence.”

Also named in the lawsuit are Universal Music Group and Def Jam Recordings, which the plaintiff alleges enabled and ignored signs of Liles’ alleged misconduct.

The court has not yet ruled on the motion to dismiss, and no future court dates have been set. The case remains ongoing.
