Latto is facing criticism over the lyrics in her song “Brokey” from her latest project Sugar Honey Iced Tea. Some listeners have interpreted the song as insulting blue-collar workers who can’t afford lavish lifestyles, particularly due to lines like, “B**es gotta wait till they birthday to go out of town” and “Brokey, yeah, I talk a lot of s*.” However, Latto has clarified that her intent was not to disrespect hardworking individuals.

In response, she launched a $10,000 challenge on social media, asking fans to create videos at their jobs using “Brokey” and promising to fly the winner out to appear in the music video. She tweeted:

“I hate that y’all think I was calling hard workers brokeys 💔 So I got $10k for whoever make the best video at they job to ‘Brokey’ & I’ll fly u out to be in the music video… no mo waiting til ur bday to go outta town.”

The challenge has already garnered many submissions on social media, with fans getting creative at their workplaces. Latto hopes that this initiative will shift the narrative and show her appreciation for her hardworking fans, while also giving them a fun opportunity to engage with the track.
