Makeup for the Stars: Jose Miguel Clark-Hilery’s Journey of Working with Celebrities and Creating His Own Brand.
Jose started his journey of doing makeup on himself in Tampa, Florida, developing a reputation for his over-the-top theatrical makeup.
Jose Miguel Clark-Hilery has been working as a makeup artist for eighteen years, bringing a unique style to his work thanks to his diverse background and experience. As a child, he loved painting and being creative in school and outside of it. As he grew older, he got more involved in the artistic world, participating in theatre in high school and working in the fashion industry. It was during a Jean-Paul Gaultier fashion show in 1993, while attending FIT as a fashion design major in New York, that he realized he wanted to pursue a career as a makeup artist after seeing the captivating creativity of the makeup artist backstage.
Jose started his journey of doing makeup on himself in Tampa, Florida, developing a reputation for his over-the-top theatrical makeup. This led to him working for 20 years in retail for brands like M.A.C. Cosmetics and NARS Cosmetics as a trainer, developing his skills as a professional makeup artist who specializes in skincare, cosmetic application, Halloween/special FX, airbrush, and beauty education.
Jose specializes in a wide range of areas, including weddings, graduations, editorial photo shoots, music videos, and more. He has even worked with celebrities like Pilar Scratch and Malvie Magazine. He is also the official makeup artist for Harvest Christian University, where he does makeup for celebrity graduation ceremonies. His work has been featured in publications like Itsonlyentertainment, Bustle, and Huda Beauty.
Jose’s journey has led him to create his own brand, GlamKings, which offers services like microblading and makeup artistry. He brings a professional attitude, impeccable attention to detail, and a sense of fun to every job he takes on, making him an innovative artist with a creative eye.
