Mariah Carey Reveals She Lost Her Mother And Sister On The Same Day
Mariah Carey shared devastating news, revealing that both her mother, Patricia, and sister, Alison, passed away on the same day over the weekend. The singer expressed her deep sorrow and gratitude for the time spent with her mother in her final days. While details about the causes of death remain unknown, Carey reflected on her complicated relationships with both women, acknowledging the love and complexities that defined their lives together.
“My heart is broken that l’ve lost my mother this past weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day,” the Grammy-winning singer, 55, said in an exclusive statement to PEOPLE.
“I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed,” adds Mariah. “I appreciate everyone’s love and support and respect for my privacy during this impossible time.”
