Marlon Wayans Recalls Bittersweet 2Pac Meeting ’20 Minutes Before He Got Shot’
Marlon Wayans recently shared a poignant memory of meeting 2Pac just 20 minutes before the rapper was shot in a 1996 drive-by in Las Vegas. On Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast, Wayans described seeing 2Pac and Suge Knight at The Luxor and feeling uneasy about the situation. Despite his concerns, Wayans and actor Omar Epps decided to approach 2Pac and briefly chat with him.
Wayans recalled, “I give him a hug, we all talk, kick it for five minutes,” before they left in a cab. He vividly remembered 2Pac’s wistful expression as they departed. Shortly after, Wayans learned of the shooting.
Wayans, who previously worked with 2Pac on the 1994 film Above the Rim, reflected on their relationship, noting that while 2Pac was often seen as a gangster, he was actually very smart and had a playful side.
