Marlon Wayans Responds to Boosie Condemning Daughter’s Sexuality

Rapper Boosie Badazz recently made controversial comments about his lesbian daughter, Iviona Hatch, saying he wouldn’t allow her to bring her girlfriend around her siblings for fear of “contaminating” them. During a live taping of Yung Miami’s “Caresha Please,” Boosie explained his decision, citing generational beliefs and his desire for grandchildren.
Marlon Wayans, whose son is transgender, responded to Boosie’s comments with empathy. On X (formerly Twitter), Wayans wrote, “U can’t paint @BOOSIEOFFICIAL as a monster. That man is a father that provides. I believe him, his daughter, and God will figure this out.” He explained that it also took him time to understand his own child.
Iviona Hatch, also known as Poison Ivi, spoke out against her father’s remarks in a recent clip, noting the hurtful words he used when she first came out to him, including calling her a “gay b-word.” She expressed that despite their strained relationship, she still loves and respects her siblings.
Marlon Wayans also spoke against Elon Musk, after learning that Musk allegedly disowned his transgender daughter. On Shannon Sharpe’s “Club Shay Shay,” Wayans stated, “You know you don’t treat them babies like that. You don’t disown your babies.” This comment came amid Wayans’ continued push for understanding and patience in situations involving LGBTQ+ family members.
Boosie’s history of homophobia is well-documented. In 2021, he made headlines for using slurs against Lil Nas X and even encouraging self-harm, which he later attempted to justify by stating his tour manager was gay.
Wayans concluded his remarks by emphasizing the need to give families time to grow and understand, recognizing that while Boosie’s views may be harmful, there remains a need for compassion to foster change. “Give their family grace and time. This is growing pain… He may come around he may not. But that’s on him and her,” Wayans wrote. He acknowledged that, while Boosie’s comments were extreme, he still wants to hold space for Boosie to change his perspective.
