A resurfaced interview has brought back wild claims that rapper Meek Mill was once taken hostage for ransom by members of the Rollin’ 60s Crips in Los Angeles, with rapper Rick Ross allegedly paying $50,000 to secure his freedom.

The claims come from an interview last year on Akademiks’ Off the Record podcast, where gang affiliate Luce Cannon, who has ties to the Rollin’ 60s, detailed the shocking incident. Cannon explained that the confrontation stemmed from Meek Mill’s provocative behavior on social media, specifically his “reckless” Twitter activity.

“We caught him at the club where he was performing at,” Cannon recounted. “As soon as he walked in, all of the security that was with him, they spun around. I grabbed cuz like, ‘Bro, wassup?’ I said, ‘Get on the phone with Ross.’”

According to Cannon, Meek Mill was taken outside and held for ransom, with Ross eventually coughing up the requested $50,000 to free him. When asked if the situation could have escalated further without the payment, Cannon bluntly confirmed, “Yeah, of course.” However, he stressed that it wasn’t a shakedown, but rather, “a business transaction.”

Cannon also suggested that this event played a role in Meek’s subsequent friendship with the late Nipsey Hussle. He claimed, “That’s why Meek and Nipsey became cool after that situation because they started using the same PR.”

Despite the interview generating a wave of attention, both Meek Mill and Rick Ross have yet to comment on the ransom allegations. Meanwhile, Cannon, whose real name is Termaine Williams, was recently arrested as part of a large-scale operation targeting the Rollin’ 60s Crips. He, along with Big U and 17 others, faces serious charges, including murder, human trafficking, and extortion. Prosecutors also allege that Big U used his non-profit organization, Developing Options, as a front for criminal activities.

As the legal proceedings continue, the validity of Cannon’s claims and the lasting impact on Meek Mill’s relationships within the hip-hop community remain to be seen.
