Metro Boomin revealed he’s collaborating with Young Thug on the Atlanta rapper’s first album since his release from prison in October 2024. The announcement came via Metro’s Instagram Stories, where he teased, “Don’t believe everything you see online. Clout got the world in a chokehold. Back to working on [Young Thug’s] album.”

The duo has an extensive history of successful collaborations, including tracks like “Hercules” (2015), “Trance” (2022), and “The Blanguage.” Metro also executive-produced Thug’s 2023 project, BUSINESS IS BUSINESS, which featured heavyweights like Drake, Future, Travis Scott, and Lil Uzi Vert.

Young Thug’s return to music follows his guest appearance on Lil Baby’s “WHAM” and ongoing plans for a joint project with Future and Lil Baby. The latter collaboration was reportedly Thug’s idea while he was still incarcerated. “The whole time, while he’s locked up, I’m talking to him about the trial, and he’s like, ‘You need to get with Pluto [Future] and drop the tape,’” Lil Baby shared in a recent interview.

Metro Boomin’s own work has been gaining accolades, with his and Future’s WE DON’T TRUST YOU up for Best Rap Album at the 67th Grammy Awards on February 2. Tracks like “Like That” featuring Kendrick Lamar and “We Still Don’t Trust You” with The Weeknd have also earned nominations, keeping Metro firmly in the spotlight as he continues to push boundaries in hip-hop production.
