5 Students Shot On Campus at Morgan State University

Morgan State University’s annual homecoming celebration took a distressing turn when five people were shot and injured on campus.

The incident occurred after the traditional crowning of Mister and Miss Morgan State, a cherished event at this historic Black college in Baltimore, Maryland.

According to Baltimore PD, the gunfire erupted as attendees wereleaving an auditorium at the Murphy Arts Center, heading to a nearby coronation ball.

Officers on patrol immediately responded to the sound of gunfire and declared an active shooter situation around the arts center and a nearby dormitory. A shelter-in-place order was issued for everyone’s safety.

Soon after, responding officers discovered the victims of the shooting, comprising four men and one woman, aged 18 to 22. Four of these individuals were students.

Fortunately, their injuries were non-life-threatening, and they were immediately transported to a local hospital for treatment.
