Nicki Minaj Targeted in Another Dangerous Swatting Incident at Her L.A. Home

Nicki Minaj has once again become the victim of a swatting hoax, after a false report led law enforcement to swarm her Los Angeles-area home on Wednesday night (April 9).

According to TMZ, the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department received a call just after 7 PM claiming there had been a shooting and assault at a Hidden Hills residence tied to the rapper. Deputies rushed to the scene, only to discover the home was empty and there were no signs of any disturbance.

The Los Angeles Times reports the call didn’t come through the 911 emergency line, but rather through the department’s business line. The unidentified caller falsely stated that a Black woman had been shot at the residence and that two individuals remained on the property. Authorities later confirmed the call was a hoax and labeled it as a swatting incident.

Swatting—an illegal and dangerous act of filing a false crime report to trigger an aggressive police response—has increasingly become a method of harassment. This marks at least the third time Minaj has been targeted. In 2023, two separate swatting incidents falsely reported a shooting and child abuse at her home.

Fortunately, Minaj and her family were not in California during Wednesday’s scare. The incident follows another recent tragic swatting event in Atlanta that resulted in a fatality, underscoring the serious risks involved.
