Pras Michél Sues Lauryn Hill for Fraud and Breach of Contract Over Canceled Fugees Tour

Pras Michél has filed a lawsuit against his Fugees bandmate Lauryn Hill in a New York federal court, alleging fraud and breach of contract related to their canceled tour. The suit, filed on October 1, claims Hill exhibited “narcissistic tendencies” and mismanaged the tour’s setup, marketing, and budgeting, suggesting her actions were a “veiled and devious attempt” for personal gain.

According to Michél, the 2023 tour was poised for success with most shows sold out in advance, but Hill’s alleged budget mismanagement resulted in inflated expenses designed to incur losses. He also accused Hill of turning down a $5 million offer for the Fugees to perform at Coachella, a decision she made without informing him, claiming her ego was bruised by No Doubt receiving top billing.

Hill and the Fugees canceled the tour shortly before its start, leading to refund notifications for fans. Michél’s lawsuit asserts that Hill misled Live Nation about his involvement in a 2024 tour and accuses her of deceit regarding a $1.1 million advance. The lawsuit seeks to address the financial and reputational damage Michél claims to have suffered as a result of Hill’s actions. VIBE has reached out to Hill’s spokesperson for a comment on the allegations.
