Prison Riot Breaks Out As Tory Lanez Begins Recording His New Album From Behind Bars

Tory Lanez has promised fans new music, and it seems he’s already hard at work on his upcoming album, despite his current incarceration. The rapper recently shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse of his recording process, which began with a three-week plan to complete the project. However, a recent incident during a recording session suggests it may take longer than expected.

In a video, Tory can be seen rapping into a phone while in prison, initially facing the camera as he delivers his verse. The atmosphere shifts quickly, though, as a prison riot suddenly erupts behind him. As chaos ensues, inmates rush past Lanez, and the rapper attempts to continue his verse, though he eventually drops the performance due to the escalating tension.

The recording quality is poor, and while the shouts and commotion from the riot are muffled, it’s clear that physical altercations are happening off-screen. A loud banging sound startles Lanez toward the end of the video, causing him to drop the phone and exit the frame.

Tory Lanez had announced his plans to release new music after seeing the success of fellow Canadian artists in 2025, including PARTYNEXTDOOR, Drake, and The Weeknd. “Now it’s time for me to come out,” he declared. Lanez, who has a history of releasing music from behind bars, previously dropped a series of EPs titled Prison Tapes, showing his determination to continue his music career despite his current situation. Fans are eagerly awaiting the full album, which will likely come with a unique story behind its creation.
