Patrick Houston Jr., the 21-year-old son of Memphis rap legend Project Pat, was tragically shot and killed last week in Memphis. The incident occurred in the historic Imogene Heights neighborhood, known for its deep cultural roots within the city’s Black community.

Memphis police confirmed the shooting happened shortly after 1 PM on Friday. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found Houston Jr. unresponsive and pronounced him dead on-site. Authorities have yet to release further details, and no arrests have been made as the investigation continues.

Patrick Houston Jr. was the son of Project Pat, a pioneering figure in Southern hip-hop and a member of the Memphis group Killa Klan Kaze. Project Pat gained widespread recognition through his affiliation with Three 6 Mafia, co-founded by his younger brother, Juicy J. Together, the brothers helped establish Memphis as a hub for hip-hop in the ’90s and early 2000s.

Project Pat’s solo career soared with the release of his 2001 album Mista Don’t Play: Everythangs Workin, which earned gold certification. The album, a staple in Southern rap, was released just months before Houston Jr.’s birth, marking a significant era in the rapper’s life.

While Patrick Houston Jr. lived a relatively private life, his death has sent shockwaves through Memphis and the broader hip-hop community. Fans, friends, and loved ones have taken to social media to express condolences and share their grief over the heartbreaking loss.
