Russell Simmons Demands Kimora Lee To Reveal Text Messages in Court Battle Over Shares

Published

on

Russell Simmons is intensifying his legal battle against ex-wife Kimora Lee Simmons, demanding that she reveal private text messages in a federal court deposition. The lawsuit stems from Simmons’ accusation that Kimora used shares he had a stake in to cover a $44 million bond for her ex-husband, Tim Leissner. Leissner, a former Goldman Sachs banker, faced criminal charges for his involvement in the 1MDB corruption scandal.

Simmons believes that texts between Kimora, Leissner, and her financial advisors will prove his case, revealing the alleged misuse of his shares. Meanwhile, Kimora has denied these claims, asserting that she has already provided proof of ownership for the disputed shares. Her legal team has described Simmons’ demands for text messages and other documents as “excessive and irrelevant.”

This ongoing legal fight is the latest chapter in the contentious relationship between Simmons and Kimora, with public sides being taken by both their supporters and detractors.

In a separate development, Simmons recently spoke out on social media, addressing his friends being targeted for supporting him amidst past sexual assault allegations. He urged people to stop attacking his friends, pointing out that other high-profile figures like Joe Biden and Bill Clinton have faced more credible accusations than he has.

Kimora has also been in the spotlight recently, defending her daughter’s controversial relationship with an older man, stating that her daughter was possibly “set up” and expressing concern over the situation.

This lawsuit is far from over, and it remains to be seen how the court will respond to Simmons’ demand for text message evidence.
