Houston rapper Sauce Walka, who was shot in Memphis this past weekend, is recovering and in good spirits, according to recent video footage. The rapper, whose real name is Albert Walker Mondane, was shot in the thigh during a “targeted shooting” on Saturday, March 22, which also left one person dead.

The shooting occurred around 2:42 p.m. local time near the 100 block of George W. Lee Ave, with one victim found dead at the scene and Walka being transported to the hospital in non-critical condition. Sauce Walka’s father confirmed his son is expected to survive, thanking God for his son’s survival, stating, “Had it not been for God, my son would’ve been dead.”

TMZ later confirmed Walka as the surviving victim, and Walka shared an Instagram update on March 23 thanking fans for their support. In his post, he also acknowledged the condolences shared by fellow Texans star C.J. Gardner-Johnson, who wished Walka a “speedy recovery.”

Authorities are actively investigating the incident, which the Memphis Police Department (MPD) described as “isolated” and “not random.” MPD has identified the suspect vehicle and is working to make arrests.

Despite the tragedy, Sauce Walka’s fans can take comfort in knowing the rapper is recovering and staying positive, as shown in the video footage of him in good spirits after the incident.
