Shedeur Sanders Responds to First-Round NFL Draft Snub: ‘Fuel to the Fire’

Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders, once projected as a top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, experienced a surprising slide out of the first round. Despite an impressive college career, including an FBS record 71.8% completion rate, Sanders remained undrafted after Day 1.

At his draft party in Canton, Texas, Sanders addressed family and friends with resilience. “We all didn’t expect this… Just more fuel to the fire,” he said. “Tomorrow is the day. We’re going to be happy regardless.”

Analysts have speculated that factors such as perceived attitude issues during the pre-draft process and attempts to influence his draft destination may have contributed to teams passing on him.

Despite the setback, Sanders remains optimistic as he looks forward to the second round of the draft, which resumes Friday evening. Teams like the Cleveland Browns, Las Vegas Raiders, New Orleans Saints, and New York Jets are potential landing spots.

Sanders’ response to the draft disappointment has drawn praise from figures like Robert Griffin III, who highlighted his maturity and leadership potential.
