Simone Kelly Announces New Single “My Person” & Is Setting A New Tone For RnB

Once being the girl who desired to be in love so badly, Simone Kelly is ready to take her heart into her own hands. Prior to the pandemic, Kelly found herself in a situation that was too good to be true, but as the world started to open up, so did Kelly’s eyes. The toxic relationship that Kelly found herself listening to Summer Walker sing about, was now the very thing she struggled to walk away from. 

As Kelly gears up for the release of her new single, “My Person,” she has been using her free time to focus on loving herself and making better choices. Though she loves the silky sound of Hip Hop and R&B, Kelly still hesitates to label her sound as part of any genre, saying, “I write depending on the situations I experienced or that have left an impact on [my] life.” As a self-proclaimed open-book, she admits that there aren’t too many things she hides because everything has made her stronger.

Despite being compared to the likes of Tink and Keke Palmer, the very things that Kelly may dislike about herself are what separates her as an artist – her flaws. Recognizing the scrutiny that being in the limelight has provided, Kelly keeps her values and family close, “If I don’t know who I am, I could easily get lost in other people’s opinions.” As Kellycontinues to pursue her dreams in LA, she sometimes feels lonely as her family watches her shine from across the country. Though music has taught her how to express herself, Kelly wants to use it as a way to change lives.
