Taraji P. Henson, Sherri Shepherd, Teyana Taylor, Glynn Turman & More Set For Tyler Perry Netflix Film ‘Straw’

Tyler Perry is back with another one! According to Deadline:

Writer-director Tyler Perry has announced the cast for his latest Netflix film, Straw, as revealed by the streamer on Wednesday.

The film will star Taraji P. Henson (The Color Purple), alongside Sherri Shepherd (Precious), Teyana Taylor (A Thousand and One), Glynn Turman (Rustin), Sinbad (Atlanta), Rockmond Dunbar (Prison Break), Mike Merrill (The Black Hamptons), and Ashley Versher (Beauty in Black).

Straw, the newest film from Perry’s collaboration with Netflix, follows a single mother who encounters a series of misfortunes, leading her down an unexpected path. As she battles circumstances beyond her control, she becomes embroiled in an unforeseen situation. Desperation pushes her into the center of suspicion in a world seemingly indifferent to her plight.

Perry will produce the film along with Angi Bones and Tony Strickland. This announcement comes after last month’s news of a partnership between Tyler Perry Studios, DeVon Franklin, and Netflix to create faith-based films under a multiyear, multipicture first-look deal. Perry also currently has a series deal with Netflix.
