Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine (real name: Daniel Hernandez) is taking legal action against LA Fitness after enduring a vicious attack that sent him to the hospital in early 2023. The rapper, who gained notoriety for his colorful persona and controversial legal history, is suing the gym chain for more than $1 million in damages, claiming that the gym failed in its duty to provide adequate security at one of its South Florida locations.

According to legal documents obtained by TMZ from Palm Beach County, Florida, 6ix9ine alleges that the attack—carried out by three men, who he claims were members of the Latin Kings gang—was preventable had LA Fitness taken proper precautions. The suit argues that the gym’s staff was either unaware of or failed to follow proper security protocols to ensure the safety of its members.

The violent assault took place at an LA Fitness facility in South Florida, where 6ix9ine was attacked by three assailants while attempting to use the gym. Footage from the incident shows the rapper being repeatedly struck by the men while trying to protect himself. The brutal beating left him with injuries to his jaw, ribs, and back.

The video, which surfaced at the time of the attack, depicted a chaotic scene as Tekashi struggled to shield his face while being pummeled. His injuries were severe enough to require hospitalization, and he was left with lingering physical pain, disability, and emotional trauma. Following the incident, all three men were arrested in connection with the attack.

In the lawsuit, Tekashi claims that the gym’s failure to respond swiftly exacerbated the situation. He argues that staff members did not immediately call the police or take steps to intervene when they became aware of the altercation, which allowed the assault to continue for a longer period.

Hernandez’s legal team asserts that LA Fitness’s negligence directly resulted in his physical and emotional suffering. The suit cites a range of damages, including bodily injury, pain and suffering, humiliation, medical expenses, and lost income due to his inability to work following the incident. Additionally, Tekashi claims the attack has led to a significant decline in his quality of life.

As part of the legal proceedings, 6ix9ine is seeking to hold LA Fitness accountable for what he believes was a gross failure in providing adequate safety measures for its clientele. The lawsuit contends that the gym’s negligence in training staff and enforcing basic security protocols led to a violent, traumatic experience that could have been avoided.
