Trey Songz Wins Legal Break as $11.2M Default Judgment Is Dismissed

Trey Songz has received positive news in his ongoing legal battle, as a Las Vegas judge dismissed an $11.2 million default judgment against him. The ruling grants his legal team 30 days to formally respond to the civil lawsuit filed by Tyrelle Dunn.

Dunn alleges that Songz and his security guards assaulted him in November 2021 at The Cosmopolitan while Songz was searching for his wife. Dunn claims the incident resulted in injuries, medical expenses, pain and suffering, and sought punitive damages.

Songz’s attorneys argued he was unaware of the lawsuit until fans informed him about the default judgment via Instagram in November 2024. They contended that the lawsuit was improperly served by a gate security guard, making the service invalid.

Clark County District Judge Jacob Reynolds ruled that Songz should have the opportunity to defend himself, allowing the case to proceed. Songz has denied all allegations, and his legal team is preparing to respond.
