Wendy Williams Moved to Memory Unit at Assisted Living Facility Due To Consuming Too Much Alcohol

Wendy Williams has reportedly been moved to the memory unit of the assisted living facility where she has been residing for the past eight months. While this relocation is not linked to any issues with her memory, it stems from concerns over her behavior. According to TMZ, Williams, who had previously been free to move around the facility, was allegedly consuming too much alcohol in the building’s restaurant, leading to the decision to restrict her access to certain areas. In the memory care unit, Williams no longer has the same level of freedom.

This update follows an emotional interview Williams gave last month with The Breakfast Club, where she spoke candidly about her current situation. “I am not cognitively impaired,” she stated, adding that she felt trapped in the facility. “I feel like I’m in prison,” she continued, describing her living conditions alongside older residents.

Williams, who was diagnosed with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia in 2023, clarified that her memory remains intact. An employee at the facility confirmed that Williams does not have “good and bad days” with her memory, noting that she can remember information over long periods of time.

In the same interview, Williams’ niece, Alex, also shared her frustrations with the facility’s strict rules, which prevent Williams from leaving or having visitors freely. Alex recalled the intense security measures and questioning she faced when attempting to visit Williams, highlighting the isolating nature of her care.

While the move to the memory unit has stirred some concern, it appears to be a measure taken due to behavioral issues rather than cognitive decline, as Williams continues to cope with her ongoing health challenges.
