Young Thug’s Probation Could Be Revoked Following Social Media Post Controversy

Rapper Young Thug, born Jeffery Lamar Williams, may face the revocation of his probation after being accused of violating the terms of his plea deal linked to the YSL RICO trial. The Fulton County District Attorney’s Office filed a motion this week, alleging that Williams’s recent social media activity endangered witnesses and public officials, undermining the integrity of the judicial system.

Williams, who pleaded guilty on October 31, 2024, to charges connected to the YSL RICO case, was sentenced to probation with specific conditions. These included no contact with victims or their families. However, prosecutors contend that Williams violated these terms by sharing a social media post targeting key law enforcement witness, Fulton County Investigator Marissa Viverito, during her testimony in a gang-related murder case.

On April 1, 2025, Williams reposted a now-deleted image of Viverito with the caption: “Marissa Viverito is the biggest liar in the DA’s office.” The post quickly went viral, accumulating over 2 million views and generating threats directed at Viverito and her family. In the days following, additional posts appeared, including one that disclosed Viverito’s home address, along with threats to her life and to Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.

In their motion, prosecutors argue that these actions were part of a larger campaign to intimidate and obstruct justice, highlighting Williams’s significant influence and the potential danger posed by his social media reach. They also point to other posts, including references to Judge Paige Whitaker as “YSL Whitaker,” insinuating bias in the proceedings.

Prosecutors have requested that Judge Whitaker immediately revoke Williams’s probation and remand him into custody, citing the threat his actions pose to public safety and the judicial process. They also ask the court to require Williams to reimburse law enforcement for the additional security measures necessitated by the threats.

Williams has denied any intent to threaten or intimidate anyone, stating on his official social media account, “I don’t make threats to people I’m a good person, I would never condone anyone threatening anyone or definitely participate in threatening anyone. I’m all about peace and love.”

A hearing date for the motion has not yet been set.
